• Responsible for teaching toddler age children using developmentally appropriate practice.
• Responsible for working as a team teacher with another teacher.
• Responsible for teaching in a safe, progressive manner to ensure safety at every stage of learning.
• Responsible for instilling the YMCA’s 4 core values of caring, honesty, respect and
responsibility in all aspects of teaching, working with parents and fellow staff.
• Responsible for implementing open-ended art, science projects with the children.
• Responsible for coming up with projects that use all of the developmental aspects of life.
• Responsible for following all department specific and overall YMCA safety procedures.
• Responsible for observing the children, and documenting in the child’s portfolio and conducting assessments on the children.
• Responsible for conducting parent teacher conferences and keeping the parents informed on the child’s development.

• Basic CPR/First Aid certification. Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
• At least 15 units of child development, including core and infant/toddler classes.
• Must have 3 units specifically infant/toddler.
• Must have experience as a preschool teacher.
• Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of people and groups, including staff and parents.
• Ability to follow policies regarding our child care program.
• Ability to participate in staff meetings.
• Must be able to work well in a team environment.
• Must have excellent communication skills, and writing skills.
