Stress is the body’s reaction to change that requires a physical, mental or emotional adjustment or response. Since we all live in an ever-changing world; stress is a part of our lives. A good foundation for managing stress is regular exercise and good nutrition but there are also additional ways to help you relax and cope with life’s daily frustrations. At the Y, we want to support your Spirit, Mind and Body.

Recognizing the important role that attitude plays in healthy living, the YMCA of America has partnered with the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer strategies that address the challenges people face when trying to make healthier choices.
Here at the Burbank Community YMCA, we have established a working relationship with Clinical Psychologist & Wellness Advisor Dr. Deborah Hoffman. Together with Dr Hoffman, we will be offering members a variety of tools to help overcome their “blocks” to better health, including seminars, interactive workshops and a quarterly newsletter.
Dr. Deborah Hoffman, clinical psychologist and wellness advisor brings a holistic approach to helping you live healthy. Today in our progressive society we are faced with more choices than ever before. Often our rapidly changing world can leave us feeling perplexed and frustrated. I believe the mind and body work together in synergy. My approach can help you integrate your mind, body, social, and spiritual aspects into a balanced lifestyle.
I have spent the last 10 years analyzing the aging process. Having worked with clients, ages 3 to 95, from various backgrounds, has given me a deep appreciation for how unique each person’s journey unfolds. It is clear that the mind is your most powerful resource and optimum mental health is vital to well-being. Of one thing I’m certain, there is no end to learning and growing.
I’m committed to teaching and providing the resources to incorporate healthy behaviors into your daily routines. An important piece of the equation is preventive care. It’s time to take the reins and be more proactive with our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Ben Franklin said it best, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!” Let’s make healthy changes that will have life changing benefits!
