Congrats To The Y’s Youth & Government Delegation!
The Burbank Y’s Youth & Government delegation just returned from the State Capitol in Sacramento with the title “Delegation of Distinction. Also, one of the Y delegates was selected to represent the State in an upcoming national conference and another delegate succeeded in getting her proposal all the way to the General Assembly. Way to go!
On Friday, January 24 it was Parents vs. Coaches at the Y with parents of the Y's Jr. Lakers kids taking on the Y's basketball coaches. The night was a blast and the big winner in the half-court shoot was Paul Decathong who took home a pair of premium Clipper tickets.
When the Y hosted its Active Older Adults Day on Monday, April 22, area seniors were treated to free health screenings, informative presentations on important health topics and some yummy (but healthy) refreshments: tea & sandwiches from Togo's, yogurt from Yogurtland and coffee from Priscilla’s!
Kids from the Y's gymnastic program were a big hit when they demonstrated their skills at the most recent Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow campaign rally on Tuesday, April 16. Check out more photos of these amazing kids at the Y Facebook page.

Saturday, March 30 community members gathered at the Stough Canyon Nature Center for a Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow campaign rally and a family-friendly nature hike. Everyone got a brief update on how the campaign is going so far—we’re off to a good start having raised $66,275 toward our $300,000 goal.
On Friday, March 15 community members came together to celebrate the grand reopening of the Y’s newly refurbished gymnasium. After some refreshments and a brief update on the Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow campaign, adults and kids alike participated in shoot-out and 3-point contests for some cool prizes. It was a great night…one of many free events planned for the months of March and April. Plan to join us for the next one on March 30.
It was a fun night Thursday, March 7 at the Colony Theatre as the Y launched the community phase of its Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow campaign. The crowd enjoyed refreshments and then heard a brief presentation on the community campaign's goal to raise $300,000 for enhancements of the Y's facilities and programs. Following the presentation, youngsters in the Y's hip-hop and break dancing classes and participants in the Y's popular boxing program treated everyone to exciting demonstrations of their skills. The kickoff event was just the start of a series of fun campaign events planned for March and April.

The Burbank Community YMCA has recently launched it’s Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow campaign. Chairing the campaign is Vic Georgino, who is joined on the volunteer Campaign Cabinet leadership team by Ray Adams, Roger Koll , Lisa Rawlins, Darrell Taylor and Toluca Lake residents: Donn Rediger, Don St. Clair, and Tim Von der Ahe. The Cusumano Family recently announced a commitment of $250,000 to the Burbank Community YMCA to help fund the Y's $3 million capital campaign, Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow and asked that other community leaders join them in pledging support.
