Who We Are... The Burbank Family YMCA's Y's Men's Club of Burbank was chartered in January 1945 and incorporated as a State of California Corporation exempt on December 18, 1953. At that time, the organization was established as a charitable trust registered with the Department of Justice. We have been partners in service with the Burbank Family YMCA for 54 years and provided leadership and support in their various programs and activities. We are dedicated to camping and especially to the Burbank Family YMCA Camp Earl-Anna in the Tehachapi Mountains. We have established a George Bullock Scholarship fund to assist youth to experience camp life. We have worked jointly with organizations such as the Burbank Family YMCA Indian Guides and Trailblazers for improvement of the camp facilities. We currently have 22 active members. Our local activities include Habitat for Humanity (funds and labor), Burbank Halloween Association (funds and labor) and Burbank Coordinating Council's Christmas Basket Program (funds). We have also supported fundraising programs with local schools and organization during Christmas tree sales. The Club gave to the school $5.00 for each tree purchase from our Christmas tree lot in their name. Our fundraising activities include Christmas tree sales in December, the Pumpkin Patch in October and a Pancake breakfast in May. We are an international organization and represented by active Y's Men and Y's Women throughout the world in 67 countries with 1,424 clubs and 29,908 members. The US Area has 177 clubs with 3,105 members. The Area consists of 10 regions, the Pacific Southwest Region being the largest with 45 clubs and a membership of 952. We support the numerous disaster relief humanitarian need project emphasized by Y's Men International, as well as the Y's Men Brotherhood fund, Alexander Scholarship Fund and Time of Fast. Emblem And Mission... The Y's Men emblem consists first of a red triangle, the symbol long employed by the YMCA to denote it's three-fold program of spirit, mind and body building. In the upper border of the triangle appears the word International, indicative of the scope of our purposes. Within the triangle a golden star sheds rays of light on the name "Y's Men's Club." This star symbolizes the Star of Bethlehem. Just as that star served as a guide to the Wise Men of the East, so shall this golden star, which also represents the ideals of our club, serve as a constant guide to Y's Men of today and lead them to a true realization of the nobility of unselfish service. The mission statement developed as part of the Long Range Strategic Plan to 2000 is: As Y's Men International is a worldwide fellowship of persons of all faiths working constructively together, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, in partnership with and supporting the YMCA, its mission is to serve through active service to develop, encourage and provide leadership to build a better world for all humankind. The strategic thrusts emphasized are:
