Run, jog, walk or push a stroller – just don't miss the annual Burbank Community YMCA Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5K/10K.

Join casual joggers, elite athletes, families and costumed revelers on the streets of beautiful downtown Burbank to enjoy a healthy and family-friendly holiday tradition. Proceeds benefit the Burbank YMCA to help make our community-based programs available to all.

November 19-20, 12 noon to 5:00pm @ Fleet Feet Sports (1516 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank)

November 21-23, 7am to 7pm @ Burbank Community YMCA (321 E Magnolia Blvd, Burbank)

Parking & Street Closings

Free parking is available at the Burbank Town Center mall located directly across from the Y at the corner (access the parking area on Cypress Street).

Note that the following streets will be closed from 5 am until 12 noon on race day:

FAQ'S

Q: Is there a different cost for the 5K and 10K events?

No, the cost is the same for the 5K and 10K races.

Q: Can I walk the 5K/10K course?

Due to time constraints, you may not walk the 10K. That being said, we of course welcome walkers and participants of speeds and abilities. If you would like to walk, please register for the 5K. We ask that casual joggers and walkers start further back from the starting line & respect the staggered start times so the more competitive runners may leave first. The staggered start times are meant to alleviate congestion around the first turns so participants do not crowd into oncoming traffic. Thank you for your cooperation!

Q: Do the shirts come in Women's and children's sizes?

The runners' shirts only come in adult men sizes (unisex). Women and youth should pick accordingly. Only Kids Run participants receive a youth size shirt.

Q: What do the proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit?

Proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit the Burbank Community YMCA's membership assistance program. These funds enable people who otherwise might not afford it to participate in Y programs. Sponsors and participants help the YMCA say "yes!" to those in need. The Burbank Community YMCA is a non-profit 501(c)3 cause driven organization. Learn more.

Q: Can I get a refund?

Sorry, no refunds can be issued for any reason other than multiple registration errors. Your donation to support the Y's vital programs is appreciated!

Q: What time should I arrive on the day of the race?

If you are not pre-registered, day of registration opens at 6:00 am. We recommend arriving by 6:30 am. Registration closes when the 10K begins at 7:30 am. Arrive before 8am for day-of Kid Run registration! The expo opens at 6:30 am so whether pre-registered or not, arrive early to enjoy the expo, kids zone, warm-ups and announcements.

Q: Is the "Kiddie Run" a separate event or distance?

The Kids Run is a separate event for children age 9 and under (note that many children under the age of 9 may find that the 5K better suites their level of maturity). The course goes from Third & Magnolia to Third & Olive and back. It starts an hour and a half after the start of the 5K/10K at a time when most participants have completed the 5K/10K course. The entry fee for the Kids Run is $20 per participants. This is not a competitive or timed event.

Q: Can parents walk with their kids during the Kids Run? If the parent is NOT doing the 5K run/walk, do they still need to pay $20 if they only participate in the Kids Run with the child?

Parents are welcome to walk with their child(ren) registered in the Kids Run. Parents do not need to pay for their own registration.

Q: Is child care available during the race?

Unfortunately due to the high volume of participants, the Y is not able to offer child care during the Turkey Trot.

Q: What if it rains? Will you still have the Turkey Trot?

Whatever weather, the Turkey Trot will go on.

Q: Is there assistance available if I can't complete the whole course?

Yes, we have paramedics, radio operators and volunteers patrolling the course. If you need assistance, just ask a volunteer for help. We also have water stops located on the course. A medic tent is also available in the expo area.

Q: My child is under 9, can s/he participate in the 5K Run instead of the Kiddie Run?

Yes, children are encouraged to participate in the 5K as long as they are accompanied by their parent or guardian. Many children find the 5K more age appropriate even before reaching the age limit for the Kids Run. We ask that families and walkers please respect the competitive runners and start further back from the finish line.

Q: Are baby strollers allowed?

Absolutely! We just ask people with strollers, along with other walkers, to respect the competitive runners and start further back from the starting line. You are invited to register your child so he or she can have an official number and an adult race shirt to give to Mom or Dad.

Q: Do I have to pay for my child to ride in a stroller in the 5K walk? I am paying the adult fee for myself.

No, children in strollers are free. However, every person, no matter what age, MUST HAVE SIGNED A RELEASE FORM to be on the course. Sorry, children who have not registered or paid an entry fee will not receive a t-shirt.

Q: Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs on leashes are welcome to Trot with their owners! We just ask that participants with pets respect the competitive runners by starting towards the back of the pack. Sorry, dogs will not receive a medal.

Q: Can someone else pick up my registration packet?

Yes. The person picking up the registration packet(s) will need the participant's name.

Q: Do I have to be chip-timed?

Yes, the timing chip will be embedded in your runner bib. Every participant is required to wear their bib on the course. The cost of timing is included in your registration fee.

Q: Can I use my own chip for timing?

No. All chips are assigned to bib numbers prior to the race.

Q: Are there concessions available at the Y's Turkey Trot?

The Turkey Trot provides water, coffee and fruit for our participants at no charge. Other vendors and sponsors often provide additional complimentary refreshments such as granola bars and yogurt.

Q: Is skating or cycling allowed?

No, for the safety of everyone, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, heelies, roller skates, scooters etc. are not allowed. (Wheelchairs and other mobility devices are of course welcome on the course.)
