Senior Director of Youth & Child Development
Miss Angela began her Y career at the Child Development Center in 2013 as the Preschool Director. She now oversees all Youth and Child Programs here at the Burbank Y. Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Development and a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Pacific Oaks College school of Psychology and Education. She is an active member of NAEYC, CAEYC Accreditation Committee member as well as an ACA Standards Committee member. Miss Angela loves cooking, music, all things Disney and scary movies.
Miss Rita has been with the Burbank YMCA CDC for 8 years. She began her career with us as a teacher, worked in summer camp as a camp Leader and has been our Preschool/School-age Director since 2016. Rita holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child & Adolescent Development from Cal State Northridge, is an active member of the NAEYC, enjoys cooking and fitness. Miss Rita has been in the field of Education for sixteen years.
Summer Camp Director
Mr. George has been with the Burbank YMCA CDC for 14 years and began his career here as a school-age counselor and summer camp leader. George currently oversees our transportation department and summer day camp. He holds a Director certificate from the American Camp Association (ACA) and is passionate about music.
Miss Kelly has been with the Burbank YMCA for 15 years! She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, enjoys reading with a passion for True Crime Podcasts. She loves to bake (and we all love when she does) and is huge Dodger fan.
Miss Brittney joined our teaching team in 2020. She hold an AA Degree in Early Childhood education and truly enjoys working with children. Brittney spends her time on weekends with her family and has a passion for editing music videos.
Miss Vilma has been a part of the preschool program for five years. Her Y career began long before that as a volunteer! She holds both an AA and BA in Child Development, loves to paint and dabble in photography.
Miss Sandra joined our teaching team in 2019. She hold s a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and is continuing her education in Early Childhood Education. Miss Sandra enjoys spending time with her family and working with children each day.
Miss Sam began her Y career in 2008 as a summer camp counselor and has been a dedicated substitute for all of our youth programs as well as a site manager for Learn Grow Thrive (summer learning loss prevention). Miss Sam holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies, has been a long time member of the Burbank Y Service Club and has acted as an advisor for our Youth & Government Program. She enjoys crafting and taking adventures!
School-Age/ Transportation/Summer Camp/T & G
Miss Aileen began her Y career in 1997. She joined the CDC as a school-age and summer camp counselor/leader. Aileen now oversees our Teens & Government Program as well as our Counselor in training Program (CIT). Miss Aileen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts Degree in Education. She enjoys music and is passionate about fitness and healthy living.
Miss Alex has been a teacher here at the CDC since 2018. She holds an AA Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Social Behavior and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She likes to bake and finds skincare a hobby.
Miss Di holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Deaf Studies and has been with the Y for 4 years working in our school-age program and our summer learning loss prevention program (LGT). Miss Di loves working with kids!
Miss Leila began her teaching career with us 3 years ago. She holds an AA Degree in early Childhood education and is a current member of NAEYC. Miss Leila loves music and dancing!
Olivia P Castro
Miss Olivia joined the child development center in 2020 and has taken on the role of our Infant Program Master Teacher. With 12 years infant/toddler experience. Olivia holds a Bachelor Degree in Human development with an emphasis on Early Childhood education. Additionally, Miss Olivia is an experienced REI (Resources for Infant Educators), Reggio Emilia Philosophy and play Based Learning. She loves finding new ways to engage infant and toddlers and creating outdoor learning opportunities.
Mr. Dierik began his Y career as a summer camp leader and school-age leader 8 years ago and has since become a part of our early learning teaching team. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology from UC Santa Cruz. Mr. Dierik has been working with youth since 2009 and his roles have ranged from a volley ball coach to serving as a behavior therapist. He is an active member of NAEYC and loves crafting and calligraphy and playing volleyball. Educational reform is on his agenda and his future!
Miss Arianna began her Y career as a summer camp leader 6 years ago and moved into a teaching role in our preschool program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science from UC Santa Cruz. Miss Arianna loves creating and writing children’s stories!
My name is Kitty…yes its true. And here is my bio just for you! For thirty plus years I’ve had the pleasure to teach. To motivate children to try and to reach. I play the autoharp and love going through the child’s door and bringing them out mine. Love my grandkids, music, power walking and naming tunes. My job is my joy! Being at the YMCA CDC is my happily ever after.
